Gear of the week:
Polar A360 fitness tracker

Today Polar launched the A360, a fitness tracker with optical wrist-based heart monitoring. Last week we headed to Polar HQ for a pre-release preview, here’s what we found out.

As well as the tried and tested accuracy of Polar heart rate measurement (Polar have their own algorithm for optical heart rate monitoring and have optimized the hardware design to ensure the A360 is as accurate as the Polar strap), you also get 24/7 activity tracking which tracks activity, steps, workouts, calories and sleep, all on a high-res colour touch screen.

It also looks pretty cool, its compact and it comes in Powder White, Charcoal Black, Neon Green, Sorbet Pink and Navy Blue; so it works inside and outside of the gym. We’re on the waiting list for the Charcoal Black.

Designed to get you moving throughout the day, the Polar A360, gives you polite reminders  (unlike some it’s more aggressive competitors) if you’ve been sitting on your bum for too long. Smart Coaching features help you to set personalised targets and you can also hook it up to the Polar Flow app so you can analyse your own daily, weekly and monthly activity. It also gives you the heads up if you’ve got incoming calls, messages, calendar alerts, and social media notifications.

The A360 is the gold standard but with a competitive price tag. Available on www.polar.com and in store from early November for £154.50.
